Storage Collection

Salt, garlic and butter all keep better in the open air than sealed in a cupboard — and all three get used often enough that they should live within reach of the stove rather than behind a door. That is what this small collection is for.

The ceramic salt box and the stoneware garlic keeper share a square ribbed body and a bamboo lid that flips back on a metal hinge, so you can open either one with the hand that is already busy. The garlic keeper adds a row of ventilation holes, because garlic wants air; the salt box does not, and adds a side handle instead. The French butter crock works on a different principle again — a water barrier rather than a lid — to keep butter spreadable on the counter.
