What is Chulería en Pote?

Chulería en Pote — a little something in a jar — is the all-purpose Puerto Rican adobo created by Chef Ventura Vivoni. After years of cooking it for guests at his restaurant in the mountains of Adjuntas, Chef Vivoni bottled the blend so home cooks across the world could put the same flavor on their dinner table.

Each 5.5 oz jar is hand-mixed in small batches in Puerto Rico using whole spices, herbs, and zero MSG. Hedman Soto is Chef Vivoni's exclusive partner for the US mainland — every jar ships directly with the same care your abuela would put into mailing you something from home.

Frequently asked questions

Is Chulería en Pote the same as Adobo Goya?

Both are Puerto Rican adobos, but Chulería en Pote is small-batch, hand-mixed in Puerto Rico with whole spices, and contains no MSG, no artificial coloring, and no anti-caking agents. Adobo Goya is mass-produced. Most home cooks who switch don't go back.

What's in Chulería en Pote?

A blend of garlic, achiote, oregano, salt, cumin, black pepper, and a few finishing herbs Chef Vivoni keeps as his own. The Criollo and Spicy blends add culantro/recao and dried chiles respectively. Every jar lists the full ingredients on the label.

Is it gluten-free?

Yes. All three blends are naturally gluten-free, dairy-free, and contain no added sugar.

How long does one jar last?

Each 5.5 oz jar is roughly 4–6 weeks of regular cooking for a household of 2–4. Store sealed at room temperature.

Can I cook with all three blends at once?

Absolutely. Chef Vivoni often layers Original as a base and adds Criollo or Spicy as a finishing season. The Trio bundle exists for exactly this reason.

Where is Chulería en Pote made?

Hand-mixed in small batches in Puerto Rico, then shipped from the Hedman Soto warehouse on the US mainland for fast delivery across the 50 states.

How fast does it ship?

Most orders ship within 1–2 business days, with free standard shipping on orders over $60.
